Danilo Türk (born 19 February 1952) was an Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs for the United Nations. Among other things, he spoke to the Security Council on Israeli/Palestinian issues.

In 2007, he decided to run for President of the Republic of Slovenia in upcoming elections. He is backed by Social Democrats, Zares and DeSUS and also by non parliament Christian Socialists and Democrats.
