Alhaja Batile Alake is unarguably the "Queen of waka music." Although, waka music is an Islamic-oriented style of music (a much older genre than both Juju and Fuji), it was Alhaja Batile Alake who popularized the genre by playing at concerts and parties throughout Yorubaland; also, the first waka singer to wax an album. That was ever before singers such as Salawa Abeni, Kuburat Alaragbo, Asanat Omo-Aje, Mujidat Ogunfalu, Mestura Akawe, Fatimo Akingbade, Karimot Aduke, Risikat Abeawo joined the pack.

Today, Salawa Abeni is the most recognized waka singer in the world. Nonetheless, "Mama Batile Alake" is indeed a legend! -- a pioneer! No doubt about it.
