SAIT joined the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference in 1964 and is represented today in the 6 major sports: basketball, curling, soccer, cross country running, hockey and volleyball.

==New Residence Building==
The largest student on-campus residence building in Alberta will be completed on the SAIT campus in late 2007. The building is 22 stories high and contains 720 rooms.

==Future Plans==
"SAIT’s Campus Master Plan is a framework that will guide development at the institution through the next century. It reflects the institute’s desire to introduce a more blended approach to polytechnic education. The plan follows the institution’s long-term goal to integrate and consolidate most of its programs onto a central site."
