Canon wise, nothing really contradicts the series. Also, Trish's appearence in DMC2 can't really be considered canon since she's a secret character and has no story. And still has the Sparda. <small>—Preceding unsigned comment added by Heat Guy M (talk • contribs) 08:45, 10 September 2007 (UTC)</small><!-- Template:Unsigned --> <!--Autosigned by SineBot-->

"Aired Early"

First episode "Mission 01: Devil May Cry" aired on TV WOWWOW a week earlier than projected. You can find the episode on youtube to confirm.

Ending Theme

Anyone notice that ending theme to EP3 and EP8 have slightly different instrumental and lyrics. Is this just trivia?

"Seiyu?"

It might be the correct term in Japanese, but this is the English language Wikipedia. Unless a reader is a medium-to-hardcore anime fan they aren't going to know what that word means, and they shouldn't have to know. We should use the English term "voice actor," and that's what I'll change it to. --Boradis 02:07, 31 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Don't we usually use seiyu to describe the Japanese voice actors and 'voice actor' to describe dubs with anime? I'm fairly certain that's what's done on the other anime pages. Is "Voiced by" fair middle ground? Chavi904 08:16, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It's mainly anime fans that visit anime articles I'm sure they know what "seiyu" mean, besides most other articles use "seiyu". -- David13579 00:30, 23 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Regardless of who "mainly" visits anime articles, the correct term in English is the term that should be used. There is no reason to use the Japanese term simply because it's an anime title. --Boradis 00:12, 14 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Then change all anime articles. I wasn't trying to say "seiyu" is right the right term because anime fans read the articles, it is the right term because it has been used by most articles so far besides there's an articles explaining what "seiyu" means. --David13579 00:30, 23 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Canonicity

Does anyone know how canonical the anime is and where it is placed in the games timeline? Because the appearance of both Lady and Trish suggests that it takes place after the original DMC but before DMC2, since Trish is absent in the latter, but then again, so is Lady in the former... --Koveras  18:23, 24 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Trish is present in DMC2 as a secret character, and as she is never actualy killed during the games, absent doenst mean she cant be around. its probably set after all the games. Mloren 13:12, 4 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

So far, there are no elements in the anime that contradicts the the game's canon. Maybe Patty staying at the DMC shop, but we'll have to wait 'til the end to know what's gonna be of her.--Alexlayer 01:37, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think Patty stays at DMC... more like she visits it a lot. She comes and goes at will, and mostly is only there when Dante is there. She usually calls out, "Dante are you here" when she enters... as if she's a guest (letting herself in of course).

In any case, I put up a contradict tag. Does it take place after the third game, or after the first? Brittany Ka 09:56, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As far as I've seen the timeline proceeds as follows: (1)Manga concerning the events up to the start of DMC3. (2)DMC3. (3)DMC1. (4)Ok.. now here it gets a bit tricky. Because we don't know the ending of the anime yet, it could be that the anime is timed between DMC1 and DMC2. It could ALSO be that the anime is timed after DMC2, maybe even after DMC4! (although I don't think the latter is true). It could also be a prologue for DMC4, like the manga was for DMC3. In any case, the anime is timed after DMC1, so I don't think the contradict tag is in place. And with this I think DMC2 is not part of the main storyarc (DMC3 -> DMC1 -> DMC4?? ), but just a parallel story, just like big anime series have their movies which don't concern about the main storyarc. Seeing that Trish and Lady re-appear in events involving the story around Sparda. (IMHO in DMC2 Sparda is only used as connection to make it a 'DMC-game', because the plot of the story doesn't involve Sparda and his sealing of the demon world like the other stories do). —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 77.249.42.177 (talk) 12:49, August 23, 2007 (UTC)
DMC3 shows the events prior to DMC1, so the anime series is indeed after DMC1 & DMC3, while before DMC2. It is between DMC1 and the anime that Dante undergoes a personality change, from extremely cocky and arrogant in DMC1&3, to the strong-yet-silent type in the anime and DMC2. Also notice that at the end of the third game (the events before DMC1), Dante first acquires the sword [can't remember name] that he begins the first game with, and if during the credits of DMC3 you manage to defeat 100 demons, a secret ending is shown where Vergil makes ready to battle with Mundus, who was eventually defeated by Dante in DMC1. There are a number of other facts which verify the point that DMC3 is the beginning of the story, then DMC1, then the anime. Hope this helps. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.125.25.205 (talk) 09:00, August 24, 2007 (UTC)
