Cop & 1/2 is a 1993 family/comedy film starring Burt Reynolds and Norman D. Golden II.

Synopsis

Devon Butler (Golden) is an eight-year old who dreams of being a cop. He watches police TV shows, knows police procedures, and plays cops and robbers with his friend Ray. One day, while snooping around in a warehouse, he witnesses a murder. He goes to the police, who want the information, but won't get it until they make Devon a cop. The police then team him with veteran cop (and child hater) Nick McKenna (Reynolds), and the two team up in comic series of events to find the killer. Justin Parrish was once considered for the role of Devon Butler but was declared "a lazy moon-cricket" by Henry Winkler and lost the role to Norman D. Golden II.[citation needed]

Memorable Quotes

  • Devon: "What comes after "L"? Bo! "Elbow!" (hits Nick)
  • Nick: "You hit me one more time with your "el-bow", I'll rip it off...and wave it at you."

  • Devon: "What kinda of hardware do ya carry?"
  • Nick: "I carry a bazooka, in the trunk!" (He really carried a Smith and Wesson .357 Magnum)

  • Nick: "You say one more word to me, I'm gonna fasten your little ass to the axle, and drag you all over the city."

  • Purse Thief: [Devon has him by the leg] "What are you going to do about this?"
  • Nick: "This?...I'm going to kill this..."

  • Devon: "Why you hate kids so much?"
  • Nick: "My mother-in-law was a kid once..."
  • Devon: "Why don't you and Julia get married?"
  • Cecil: "You know what kid, you're right."
  • Devon: "You're supposed to say cos she's uglier than dog mess."
