I disagree. The Rio de Janeiro Sambadrome carnival festivities are televised nationwide through out carnival and Rio de Janeiro is well recognized as the center of carnival. This is not the case with the Sao Paulo Sambodromes. Yes there are other Sambodromes however I would disagree in saying they are of "equal importance". Just as there are multiple "Bourbon Street" locations around the U.S. All Americans would agree the most significant would be the Bourbon Street in New Orleans.
