Thanks for the courtesy of informing me of the policy that my user page breached. I'll certainly bear this in mind for future reference. --Rodhullandemu (talk - contribs) 18:07, 24 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia!

I hope not to seem unfriendly or make you feel unwelcome, but I noticed your username, and I am concerned that it might not meet Wikipedia's username policy. After you look over that policy, could we discuss that concern here?

I'd appreciate learning your own views, for instance your reasons for wanting this particular name, and what alternative username you might accept that avoids raising this concern.

You have several options freely available to you:

Thank you. --Rodhullandemu (talk - contribs) 20:16, 24 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

User Name

Thanks for that. I am concerned, however, that less naive users than myself would believe that your username breaches Bullet 1, Para. 2 of WP:Username#Inappropriate_usernames in that "Professional" implies that you are in some way a Foundation employee and should be accorded higher status and authority than the run of the mill editor you actually are. I am also concerned that use of "Deletionist" implies a possible conflict with WP:POV when you edit article content. Furthermore, you only started editing yesterday but seem to have a deeper knowledge of WP policies than a newbie editor would have. Your style seems familiar to me but I am for the time being prepared to WP:AGF on your part whilst reserving my position. Meanwhile, it doesn't help just to delete bits of my user page without explanation due to a change of policy that occurred whilst I was in hospital and of which I was therefore unaware. --Rodhullandemu (talk - contribs) 21:35, 24 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well fielded! You must be a cricketer, if not a poker player. Thanks for addressing the second and third of my points, but I am sill no wiser (or better-informed) as to the first. I do sometimes forget to subst warnings because I just cut & paste from that box - that's why it's there, for speedy warnings to, mostly, vandals before they slip away into the night. The userpage is no worse for the lack of that category, because I say the same thing in the body text, except that I found it useful once when I came across another editor who had actually been on the same team as I in 1984 and would not have found him otherwise. That's one use of these things that the category cull seems to have missed. Myself, I would have preferred to have known about that since I might have had some input. Ho hum. --Rodhullandemu (talk - contribs) 22:10, 24 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
If you mean UC, trashed the London School of Economics by a 300 point margin then got trashed by nearly the same margin by Trinity College, Dublin. Again, well fielded! --Rodhullandemu (talk - contribs) 22:23, 24 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
re Simply Red - but better news for music lovers. --Rodhullandemu (talk - contribs) 22:32, 24 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Reversion of Your edit at RuneScape

Hi, I have reverted your edit to RuneScape as I felt it was irrelevant to the page. Feel free to re add the expansion if you feel it is necessary. (Though an explanation isn't necessary, it is helpful). Thanks! SmileToday☺(talk to me , My edits) 18:39, 27 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Request

Request you reconsider your opposition of G-unit-boss. For one thing, none of the reasons you cite: signature length, transclusion, and non-latin usernames, apply to his sig. His username is entirely in latin characters. The signature is not, nor does it have to be, but it links to a latin user name. It transcludes no templates. It is not excessively long, certainly no longer than many signatures on Wikipedia of admins.

In fact, your own user name blatantly violates our naming policy under the "implies user is an administrator or official position" clause. Therefore I'd request that you change your comments on the RFA, and file a request to have your own username changed. SWATJester Son of the Defender 11:25, 28 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please read WP:U and register a new account

This account with this username has been blocked indefinitely because the username may be rude or inflammatory, be unnecessarily long or confusing, be too similar to an existing user, contain the name of an organization or website, refer to a Wikipedia or Wikimedia Foundation process or namespace, or be otherwise inappropriate (see our blocking and username policies for more information).

You are encouraged to create a new account and contribute to Wikipedia under an appropriate username. Our username policy provides guidance on selecting your username.

Alternately, you may request a change in username if you want to keep the contributions from this account. To do so, please follow these directions:

  1. Add {{unblock-un|your new username here}} below. This is possible because even when you are blocked, you can still edit your own talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked.
  3. You will have 24 hours after the unblock to file a request before you may be re-blocked. Please note, you may only request a name that is not already in use; do not create the new account then request a name change. For more information, please visit Wikipedia:Changing username.

In many cases (especially if your account has few or no edits), it is much easier to create a new account. You may also edit Wikipedia without creating an account. Due to Wikipedia's mechanism for enforcing name changes, your IP address may be temporarily blocked. Unless you have also been engaging in vandalism or impersonation of another user, we will remove that block as soon as possible.

If you believe this block is unjustified, you may contest the block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} below or emailing the administrator who blocked you.

Kind regards,
Anthøny 17:34, 28 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
