Elongated cylindrical, often lunate unicells comprising of two symmetrical semicells. Single, axial chloroplasts with many pyrenoids in each semicell. Very conspicuous vacules at the ends of the cell with BaSO<sub>4</sub> (Gypsum) crystals "dancing" around within them.
