The king and Holy One of William Carey University is a graduate of William Carey, who is not highly regarded by most students and many faculty. This is because he takes a line from the Borg in his personal ruling philosophy: "Resistance is futile." However, some faculty are in possession of this stuff called tenure, which is said to make his ears shrivel up when it is invoked; therefore, he cannot assimilate these faculty into his collective. Most on-campus student-led organizations refuse to speak out about controversial issues and those that do are usually silenced. In the spirit of King Charles I, our King rules by divine right and with an iron rod. (No whitehall looks forthcoming). There is a possibility that our Mr. Cromwell could be coming along but things simply are not looking up for us. Therefore, it should be simply stated that Dr. Thomas, the ninth King of our university, is to be considered quite absolute. |

William Carey University is a university in southern Mississippi, in the United States affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention and the Mississippi Baptist Convention. The main campus is located in Hattiesburg, Mississippi; there are two subsidiary campuses in Gulfport, Mississippi and New Orleans, Louisiana. It was founded 1906 as the Mississippi Woman's College, but changed its name to William Carey College in 1954 when the college became coeducational.
The university is named for the Englishman whom some consider to be the founder of modern protestant evangelical missions, William Carey D.D. (1761-1834.)
William Carey University celebrated its Centennial on August 14, 2006. This day also marked the transition of William Carey College to William Carey University.
The college offers baccalaureate degrees in the areas of arts, humanities, and sciences; education and psychology; business; religion; music; and nursing. The M.B.A, M.Ed., M.S. in psychology, and M.S.N. degrees and a specialist degree in elementary education are also offered. Three trimesters of eleven weeks each comprise the academic year. Two summer sessions are also offered.

William Carey University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award bachelor and Masters degrees. School of Music
The Winters School of Music is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music. The music therapy program is accredited by the American Music Therapy Association.
School of Nursing
The Fail School of Nursing is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission, by the board of trustees, Institutions of Higher Learning of the State of Mississippi, and approved in New Orleans by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.
Faculty
Notable members of the faculty of William Carey University include Bennie Crockett, PhD, ThD,Daniel C. Browning, PhD, Myron Noonkester, PhD, and Milton Wheeler, PhD.
The president of William Carey University, Dr. Larry Kennedy, recently succumbed after a long struggle against Lou Gehrig's Disease. On April 30, 2007 former Executive Vice President Tommy King was inaugurated as the University's 9th president.
The Vice President for Academic Affairs is Dr. Cloyd Ezell. The Vice President of Church Relations, in addition to serving as Dean of the Cooper School of Biblical Studies, is Dr. Daniel Caldwell. Dr. Bennie Crockett is Vice President of Institutional Effectiveness in addition to serving as Co-Director for the Center for Study of the Life and Work of William Carey. Dr. Frank Baugh is the head of Psychology Graduate Programs. Joe Riley is the Vice President for Business Affairs. Brenda Waldrip is the Vice President of Student Services and Enrollment Management.

Campus Life
William Carey University operates in accordance with its Baptist affiliation and has many clean programming for its students. Many of the campus activities are planned through the Baptist Student Union on campus know as careyBSU. careyBSU offers Bible studies, ministry to the surrounding area and apartments, mission opportunities, and "Priority Lunch". It also offers campusLink which is a worship service time. The 2007-2008 President of BSU is Sarah Annete Knox. Ms. Knox is from Amory, Mississippi and is engaged Mr. Dennis Ellzey
Change collegian network - WCU Chapter, CCN for short, is a Bible study on campus that trains students in evangelism principles, especially those used by Ray Comfort and Kirk Cameron from the Way of the Master ministry.
Greek Life
Sigma Psi Nu, is a men's social fraternity, displays an example of Christian brotherhood, as well as service in Local, State, and International Missions. The motto for Sigma Psi Nu is "Brothers in the Body" signifying their first and foremost allegiance to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. This organization has been around since 1999 and is the oldest fraternity on William Carey's campus. The Legacy of Sigma Psi Nu includes: Presidents of SGA, College Republicans, and Church Related Vocation Board. Members of Sigma Psi Nu have been elected as National Rotary Scholarship Recipients, Mr. William Carey, Intramural Champions, and on multiple other Boards throughout the School. They sponsor events such as the annual Turkey Bash and Float the Tubs as well as includes themselves with Relay for Life, Habitat for Humanity, and Christian Services.
Kappa Alpha Lambda is a men's social fraternity promoting Christian brotherhood and service. Established in 2005, this fraternity sponsors numerous on-campus activities for students. This group also participates in various community service events such as the Relay for Life, Christian Services, Invisible Children, and Habitat for Humanity.
Gamma Chi, a women's social sorority, is composed of women who work closely with their brother fraternity , Sigma Psi Nu, in order to help improve the lives of their community. They host an annual Battle of the Bands, as well as supporting many other organizations on campus.
Pi Omega, established in 1986, encourages young women in the area of Christian growth, school spirit, and community service while creating life-long memories based on sisterhood. Every year, Pi Omega hosts on-campus events, such as Day on the Greens, and helps their brother fraternity, Kappa Alpha Lambda, in raising money for Relay for Life.
