:The Tolkien film and novel shares the same name. That's not the case here. When I typed in The Golden Compass, I expected to and wanted to read the article on the film. Imagine my surprise to find it redirected to a novel with a different name. There's already a link to the novel in the very first line of the article to the film. --[[Special:Contributions/60.241.170.216|60.241.170.216]] ([[User talk:60.241.170.216|talk]]) 12:48, 25 December 2007 (UTC)

Redirection: To the Book or to the Film?

This page was twice altered to redirect to the 2007 film based on this book instead of the book itself. But it is more logical to link to the original work rather than a later derivative. Indeed, this is the prevailing practice on Wikipedia: for example, The Fellowship of the Ring redirects to Tolkein's book, not to the movie.

I agree that it should redirect to the novel, and had already changed that a week or so ago. I (talk) 04:45, 17 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
