Great Northern Way Campus (GNWC) is a campus of the University of British Columbia, in Vancouver, BC.
Great Northern Way Campus (GNWC), in Vancouver, BC , is a unique, collaborative university campus environment that combines the strengths of four leading academic institutions: University of British Columbia; Simon Fraser University; Emily Carr Institute of Art + Design and the British Columbia Institute of Technology. An urban campus, GNWC has the mandate to intersect arts, technology and the environment in a manner that bridges academia with industry, artists with technology, and innovation with development. It is an integrative environment that builds community and celebrates innovation.

Graduate degrees from any of GNWC's graduate programs bear the seals of all four institutional partners: The University of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University, the Emily Carr Institute of Design, and the British Columbia Institute of Technology.

Beyond the campus'academic vision, GNWC is an important land development responsibility. The campus is situated on approximately 7.5 hectares (20 acres) that has the potential to help rejuvenate and transform Vancouver’s centre.

The campus is located on 577 Great Northern Way between Clark Drive and Main Street. A proposed future expansion of the SkyTrain Millennium Line would place the "Finning" station in front of the GNWC, one stop west of the line's current terminus.

The new Centre for Digital Media is located in a separate building at the GNWC, at 577 Great Northern Way, immediately east of the main building.

Attributes for consideration
* Focus campus identity and academic planning on thematic approach such as Urban Sustainability or Entertaining Arts. The campus development and operations should be a model for responsible and innovative urban redevelopment. This concept can include a broad range of issues and study areas including: art, culture, communications, health sciences, political science, environment, engineering, design, lifestyle, socio-economic studies, urban planning, renewable energy, recycling, multiple land use, integrated community development, information technologies, etc. It could be the engine for the redevelopment of the rest of the railway lands.
* World centre of education and research in urban renewal/sustainability. There doesn't appear to be any other educational partnerships or large centres covering this broad area.
* Multi-disciplinary/multi-institution credentials.
* Pure and applied research and technology transfer activities that are congruent with academic vision.
* Embedded high tech in all activities.
* Integrated teaching, research and learning culture both within and among partner institutions through shared purpose, open communications and cooperative governance.
* World class standard of urban redevelopment and sustainability corporate/research partnerships.
* Incubator for business/residential/education partnerships.
* 21st century focus.
* Support the growth of knowledge based economy.
* Innovation and flexibility.
* Physical and virtual learning/collaboration environment.
* Learn/collaborate/research anywhere/anytime (wireless world).
* New opportunities for life long learning.
