Worcester Parkway (also known as Norton Parkway)is a proposed new railway station in Worcester, United Kingdom.
It would be located on the Cotswold and Cross Country Lines.
It would be likely for Worcester Shrub Hill to close, to justify the passanger numbers. [1]
It would give Worcester long distance InterCity trains that normally do not stop, bypassing Worcester.
It would provide Park and Ride facilities, with a large car park.
It would have 4 platforms. Two on a lower level, on the XC route, two on an upper level on the Cotswold Line.
History
There was a station called Norton Junction not far from the site of the proposed station. However, it was axed in the 1960s.
The station was first suggested in the 1970s, but it was rejected due to cost. Now, new homes have been built in Worcester and nearby so there is more of a case now.
