Josephoartigasia is an extinct rodent genus related to the living pacarana. In 1987 a skull was found in Uruguay. The size of it, about 20 inches, indicates that the animal was the largest rodent ever found. The anmimal, which lived about 4 million years ago, probably had the size of a bull.
