I am a native of eastern Kentucky and have spent most of my life here, but I've lived all over the state. I am currently serving as a [[Volunteers in Service To America|VISTA]] with The Head of Three Rivers Project, which gets its name from the fact that three rivers have headwaters in Letcher County. The North Fork of the Kentucky and Elkhorn Creek of the Big Sandy begin on the western slope of Pine Mountain. The Poor Fork of the Cumberland begins on the eastern slope.
