- This article is about the Scottish suburb. Cammo is also a common term for camouflage or more directly Military camouflage.
Cammo is a north-western suburb of Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland. It is south of A90. The housing tends to cost between £300k and £500k.
There is a large public park at the rear of the housing estate which used to be the estate of Cammo House. Cammo tower (55°57′14.96″N 3°19′16.94″W / 55.9541556°N 3.3213722°W) was a water tower for Cammo House. When the house was burnt down in a fire, the family gifted the remains of the house and the grounds to the National Trust of Scotland. The city council of Edinburgh now help maintain the grounds.
The grounds are now widely used by people for walking in. There are large areas of the grounds which many walkers do not explore, instead they choose to remain on the main paths. This is a shame but also a blessing. The reason for this is that within 2 to 3 metres of the main paths there is a large network of smaller rabbit paths. These paths allow people to explore the different types of trees and stumble across badger setts, gaining a very different feeling of the place. The blessing comes for the children who use the grounds, as they are able to build large tree bivvies, many of which can be found around the pond area.
Through out the park you will see 'CC' signs carved into trees. This was the tag of a group of irresponsible juvenile idiots based around the Cammo area. Another mark which the CC have left is visable when viewing the field to the south of the main Cammo housing estate using Google maps satellite option.
Some sections of the grounds are used as farm land, for cattle grazing. The farm is run by a farmer called Mr Little. The family name is apt as he is small.
