Deutschneudorf is also the site of a current dig in search of treasures looted by the Nazis. This site, an abandoned copper mine in the Ore mountains, was identified by radar scans as having a large amount of dense metal (believed to be too dense for copper). On Feb. 28, 2008, it was reported by CNN and others that digging had halted due to a disagreement between the two leaders of the dig. It has been said that the contents of the [[Amber room]] may also be found in this mine, though such speculation always looms over any hunt for stolen Nazi artifacts.
