Ellis Bailey Gregg (August 17, 1827 - December 18, 1854) was one of founders (known as the 'Immortal Six') of the fraternity of Phi Gamma Delta.[1] He was born in Carmichaels, Pennsylvania to the family of a prosperous merchant. As a young man, he attended Green Academy and later matriculated at Jefferson College. After graduation, he was admitted to the bar at Washington, Pennsylvania but moved to Peoria, Illinois to begin his practice and a Masonic chapter as well.[2] His health failed him though, and he was forced to return to his parents' house. He underwent surgery but succumbed on December 18, 1854 at the age of 27 years.[3]
