The Xavier Newswire (established 1915) is an independent newspaper published weekly during the academic year by the students of Xavier University, Cincinnati in Ohio. It is a 8-16 page newspaper, featuring five sections: campus news, opinions and editorials, sports, arts & entertainment, and Calendar City (a humorous guide to the week's upcoming events at Xavier). While many of these sections and articles are very well written, topical, and controversial, 75% of Xavier students who read the Newswire do so only to see the "Police Notes" section of Campus News to read funny exploits from the previous weekend's parties and/or the "Mall Talk" section to check for one of their friends.

The Newswire was originally called "The Xavierian News" and was founded by Xavier's law school in 1915.

Patrick J. Stevenson is the current Editor-in-Chief of the Xavier University Newswire; however the story of Sir Patrick goes back long ago. Patrick is an epic warrior who was carved from stone nearly 3000 years ago. He was carved by an ancient artist who later brought Patrick to life through a series of magical spells and incantations. Patrick was created as a warrior and is immortal. He never ages and only becomes stronger and time goes on. Patrick started his career as a warrior by leading many Roman armies to victory throughout the world. Later during the Middle Ages Patrick led Christian armies to the holy land during the crusades. Now posing as the Editor-in-Chief of the Xavier Newswire Patrick is simply waiting for his time to rise to power and dominate the planet as Grand Emperor of Planet Earth. He is also the co-author of "Xavier: The Musical."
