Love Blossom (Chinese: 心花朵朵开) is the fifth long-running drama, that is being produced by Singapore's free-to-air channel, MediaCorp TV Channel 8. It is scheduled to debut on 28 May 2008 and would be screened at 7pm every weekday night. The serial consists of 110 episodes.

Sypnosis

Widower Tao Dashun (Chen Shucheng) runs a flower nursery and though he loves his four children dearly, a wide gap exists between them due to his inability to express himself well.

Oldest daughter Linglan (Constance Song) has been missing ever since Dashun sent her to the drug rehabilitation centre when she was 18 years old. Now a single mother with a daughter Yiling, she is hooked up with a soccer bookie Lu Gua (Chen Tianwen) who often tries ways to take advantage of Yiling. Linglan is later reunited with Dashun but she is unmoved by Dashun’s guilt. Exploiting the latter’s emotions, Lu Gua uses the opportunity to cheat him.

Second daughter Zijing (Ivy Lee) is married to market florist Yun Kaiwang (Zheng Geping) and has a daughter. Because of financial constraints, Zijing refuses to try to conceive a son and the issue has become a sore point with her mother-in-law. Kaiwang’s sister Caixia (Patricia Mok) has never been on good terms with Zijing. When her husband Kang Qingxiong’s (Rayson Tan) investments fail and he’s declared a bankrupt, Caixia and her family moves back to live with her mother.

Qingxiong coerces Kaiwang to take on a mistress overseas to bear him a son. When Zijing finds out about it, she leaves in anger and indulges in gambling, even owing the loansharks large sums of money. Kaiwang is infuriated and Zijing is forced to return to live with Dashun.

Vietnamese bride Ruan Erbo (Priscelia Chan) comes looking for her husband. A frightened Qingxiong forces Kaiwang to become his scapegoat; the latter reluctantly agrees to save his sister’s marriage. Unexpectedly, Erbo falls in love with Kaiwang and pesters him constantly. Zijing believes their ‘affair’ is real and runs away to Malacca. Kaiwang follows in hot pursuit but loses trace of Zijing when she gets into an accident and loses her memory.

Qingxiong uses Kaiwang’s name to set up a match-making and marriage agency. When overwhelmed with greed, he instead encourages his clients to take up mistresses overseas and even organizes tours bringing men to patronize prostitutes abroad.

Third daughter Haitong(Felicia Chin) sets up a flower and hamper business with boyfriend Guo Zipeng (Adam Chen). To help pay off Zijing’s debts, Dashun decides to sell his nursery to American-born Chinese Ma Daji (Zhang Yaodong). To protect her own interests, Haitong manages to con Daji into signing a contract providing flowers to her own business at a low price and also to employ Dashun at a high salary.

Haitong discovers that Zipeng is cheating on her and gives up their business and relationship to work at the nursery. Love blossoms between Haitong and Daji just as Zipeng repents and begs Haitong for a second chance. Zipeng resorts to unscrupulous ways to make Daji believe Haitong is back with him; Daji on the other hand, receives a call from his parents to return to America. Dejected, Daji resells the nursery back to Dashun at a low price and leaves Singapore.

Dashun’s youngest daughter Wenzhu (Koh Yah Hwee) is an undergraduate with hordes of men in hot pursuit. Wenzhu becomes an actress and unwittingly offends Ah Jie Xu Yanning (May Phua) and has to endure many difficulties thrown her way by the latter. Nevertheless, she finds a good friend in vain stylist Wang Zhigang (Ben Yeo). Both relationships are discovered by the media and Wenzhu is often hounded by the press. Zhigang falls in love with Wenzhu but is mistaken as a gay by the media. To protect her future, Wenzhu decides to break off her friendship with Zhigang. Wenzhu is later kidnapped by a spurned fan and tortured. Although rescued subsequently, she is already in near hysteria…

Dashun also has a son Yu Wenhao (Terence Cao) from an affair with Miaochang (Hong Huifang) many years ago. Feeling guilty for his infidelity, Dashun left Miaochang, who subsequently married Yu Dongcheng (Huang Wenyong) and claimed Wenhao is her adopted son. Miaochang later ran away to further her studies overseas, leaving behind Wenhao and Meiwei (Eelyn Kok), her daughter with Dongcheng. Life with Dongcheng has never been easy for Wenhao ever since.

Miaochang finally returns to claim back her son but an automobile accident robs Wenhao of his mother. Dashun decides to welcome Wenhao and Linglan and her family back to live with him. While Dashun’s daughters welcome the move, the troubles and discord Wenhao and the vengeful Linglan bring with them will test the Tao family severely.
