John Gallaher (January 6, 1965 – ) is a major American Contemporary poet. He was born in Portland, Oregon. Just prior to his fourth birthday he was adopted, and has spent much of the last four decades living in various suburbs in Missouri, Kansas, California, Alabama, Long Island, Texas, Arkansas, and Ohio. He studied at Southwest Texas State University (MFA) and Ohio University (Ph.D), where he worked for a time as Assistant Editor of The Ohio Review.[1]

John Gallaher is the author of Gentlemen in Turbans, Ladies in Cauls (Spuyten Duyvil, 2001) and co-editor of The Laurel Review. His poetry has recently been published in Boston Review, Colorado Review, Crazyhorse, FIELD, jubilat, The Journal, and Ploughshares. His second book of poetry, The Little Book of Guesses, was released in April, 2007[2]

He currently resides in northwestern rural Missouri, where he works as an assistant professor of English at Northwest Missouri State University.
