Xlibris is a Philadelphia-based vanity press and on-demand printing services provider. Xlibris gives creative control and ownership rights to the author[citation needed].
The name is a derivation of the Latin term ex libris which means "from the library of" [citation needed].
An early supporter of Xlibris and the industry in general is sci-fi author Piers Anthony[1]. In December 1997, he and his wife became a part of Xlibris as venture capitalists[citation needed]. Later Xlibris formed a partnership with Random House[citation needed].
Xlibris uses multiple printers depending on the requirements of each manuscript[citation needed].
