I have never seen pie and chips in the UK, however, whether this is a regional variation or not, Pie 'n' Peas is the much better known and eaten dish. |

It is even reference is the novel [[The Last Continent]] by Terry pratchett (In the form of a meat pie floating upside downin a bowl of mushy peas). Usually meat and potatos or meat/steak pie. but the usual companion is Peas. not chips. |

:The main difference between cake and pie is the general structure of the dessert. Pies are typically composed of an outer crust, with a sometimes partially-liquid filling on the inside (fruit, vegetables, fish, etc.) Cakes are commonly made of one base substance; a sweet, bread-like one (what's commonly called the actual "cake"), along with other such additions like frosting, a layer of ice cream in the middle, and food or other decorations on the top, to name a few. My favorite pie is pecan pie. Also, I noticed Mulberry Pie was not included on the "Sweet Pies" list. My grandma would make mulberry pie and jam from the tree in her backyard. I could not find a way to add this. And sweet potato pie and sweet potato casserole are two very different things.
