Pystar Corporation, a recently formed electronics company, sells non-Apple, Mac OS X Leopard compatible computers, also known as Hackintoshes.
This was announced on Monday, April 14, 2008, according to published reports.[1]
By late morning, however, Pystar's Website was down, leading to speculation about whether Apple had put a stop to the Miami-based IT consulting company's efforts to sell the product it's calling the Open Mac, built from standard PC components. Pystar Corporation has yet to be challenged by Apple Inc. in court.
Legal Issues
[Robert] also said Psystar believes Apple's prohibition against third-party installations might not hold up in court: "What if Honda said that, after you buy their car, you could only drive it on the roads they said you could?" Robert said Psystar will continue to sell the OpenMac system, despite the fact that it appears to violate Apple's EULA. "We're not breaking any laws," he insisted.
