The Marfa Film Fesival is a Film festival held in Marfa, Texas. The festival celebrates movies filmed or associated with the area, as well as giving venues to bands, tours of the area, and various other activities. The first annual was held May 1-5.
History
Marfa has the interesting position of being the location of the filming of There Will Be Blood, No Country for Old Men, 2007's main Oscar magnets, and Giant, the Texas ranch epic, filmed in the area Marfa also has a history of artists and musicians using it for asylum, notably Donald Judd, so the film festival was a natural evolution. 2008's was sponsored by the Texas Association of Film Commissions.
