According to Jesse Boykins III, "I was inspired to name the album Dopamine: My Life On My Back based on the series of songs I was writing. They all put me in a mood that I knew could be explained. I researched love ,chemical love, and addiction and the word Dopamine was the end result. Dopamine is an endorphine in your body that makes you feel "in Love". It is also released when your addicted to something. Addicted... to Love."
