"Disturbia"
Song

"Disturbia" is a song written by Andre Merritt, Chris Brown,[2] and Robert Allen for the re-release of Rihanna's third studio album, Good Girl Gone Bad, and is the third single from the re-release, following "Take a Bow" and "If I Never See Your Face Again". The song was produced by Brian Kennedy with background vocals by Chris Brown who also co-wrote. Music video for "Disturbia" was filmed. One image of the video was leaked on YouTube.

Song information

The song follows in the footsteps of Rihanna's "Don't Stop the Music" by being a fast and upbeat pop/dance-rhythmic song. However in contrast to the upbeat music of "Don't Stop The Music", it is lyrically dark in tone, being about a state of mental anguish and confusion. The song follows an ABAB lyric format.

Chart performance

In the UK, despite not officially being released as a single, "Disturbia" managed to debut on the UK Singles Chart at number forty-seven. It also debuted at number forty-five in Ireland.

After being released to iTunes on June 17, 2008, "Disturbia" has peaked at number two on the U.S. and Canadian iTunes Top 100 Songs charts.

On June 26, 2008, "Disturbia" debuted at number eighteen on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming Rihanna's highest debut on the chart to date, as well as her sixth top twenty from Good Girl Gone Bad.[citation needed] It also makes Rihanna only the third female artist to have six or more top forty Hot 100 hits from one album (Janet Jackson and Shania Twain being the other two), and the first time since Shania Twain did it with her 1997 album, Come on Over. The song has so far peaked at number 11.
