Brigadier Moosa Ali Jaleel RM HRM MSc ndc psc serves as a flag officer in the Maldives National Defence Force of the Republic of Maldives and is widely regarded as being the most highly trained and capable military officer in the country. He was promoted to the rank of Brigadier on April 21, 2004.

Biography

Brigadier Jaleel was born on 26 June 1960 in Malé, Maldives. He completed his secondary schooling at Majeediyya School, Maldives and is a graduate of the Infantry Officer Cadet School, Singapore Armed Forces Training Institute (SAFTI). Brig. Jaleel has the distinction of having been trained at various UK, US and Indian Military Institutes:

Brigadier Jaleel is expected to be the next Chief of Defence Force of the MNDF. He enjoys a tremendous amount of public as well as soldiers support and is expected to re-organize and restructure the MNDF as a mission oriented armed force. His experience in various MNDF Units as well as the broad knowledge and wide range of skills makes him a great asset to MNDF and the Maldives.

Mercenary attack

Brigadier Jaleel was awarded the Huravee Ran Medal (1989) for gallantry in operations during the November 3 attack by PLOTE mercenaries. He has also achieved The 03 November Medal (1989), The Presidential Medal (1992), The National Security Service Medal (1993), The Distinguished Service Medal (2000), The Dedicated Service Medal (2000) and The Medal of Discipline (2004), for his exemplary leadership and distinguished service in the defence force.

In the November 3rd operation he is distinguished as the commander of the Recce patrol. After an aborted attempt at leaving the under siege HQ in motor vehicles, they ran out on foot through the (then) Police HQ gate and came under intensive fire. This resulted in the loss of 3 members from the patrol. The mission was carried out in success and they returned to the HQ. During the Nov 3rd operations Brig. Jaleel received several shrapnel wounds, with which he continued operating.

His courageous actions was displayed during the 116 Annivarsary of the MNDF.

Family

Brigadier Jaleel is currently married to Mrs. Jazeela Ibrahim. He has 5 children, with 1 from the current marriage and 4 from previous marriages.
