Proliant is a brand of server computers that was originally developed and marketed by Compaq. Proliant systems were one of the first x86 servers to be sold in a rackmount configuration, and have lead the market in sales since introduction. After Compaq merged into Hewlett-Packard (HP), HP continued to develop and market these servers as HP Proliant.
