Kataram is a village and a mandal in Karimnagar district in the state of Andhra Pradesh in India. [1]

Geography

Panchayats

The following is the list of village panchayats in Kataram mandal.

Kataram is a Mandal headquarters located towards the eastern part of karimanagar, 100 km away from it. It is a central point for the many of the surrounding villages, and is a vital junction connecting Warangal and karimnagar districts. The people who visit the holy place of Kaleswaram, where shiva is called as Kaleswara, need to cross this junction. Kaleswaram is 30 km away from Kataram.

Ayyappa's Temple was recently built here and is quite a good place to visit, the architecture for the temple is similar to the Ayyappa temple in Sabarimalai.

Sridhar Babu, WHIP of AP Government is a present MLA of Manthani, under which Kataram falls, and is the son of late Sripada Rao who was a Speaker during the Congress Government. Sridhar Babu is young generation model for his active involvement in the development of the place and is a source of great motivation for youth.

Sripada Rao had a down to earth personality, he started his political life as Sarpanch of Dhanwada village which is 6 km away from the Kataram, Manthri Mallaiah was his contemparory Sarpanch for the kataram. Later Sripada Rao was elected as Samthi President

Challa Narayana Reddy is the Market Committee Chairman and Challa Sujatha is the Mandal President for Kataram.

Now days educational scenario is changing, according to local press analysis every house has an educated kid. Number of private school are cameup with good & quality education inreasing pass percentage year by year. The interesting combination of two villages kataram and Garepally, All offices and shops are located at Garepally but none who stay outside the village call it as Kataram only. Old students from the Govt higher school are well settled at different public and private organisations.

It is a time to look back your village and people, those who have small thought to change the village into well mannered place can make advances. The village is supporting with only one bank i.e State Bank of Hyderabad and only one diesel pump. Every body think of village development irrespective of their caste, religion and political background.
