Euro Cargo Rail is a French based operator of freight trains and subsidiary company of UK rail freight operator EWS[1], the company operates rail freight services on a number of routes in northern France, particularly on routes to and from the French border mainly from Calais to Tourcoing and Dunkirk.

Operations

On 26 October, 2005 the French Minister for Transport awarded EWS International a Safety Certificate, allowing it to operate freight trains on the French rail network, making it the third rail freight operator in France. The company are responsible for marketing and trading of these rail freight services. The first Euro Cargo Rail freight train operated during winter 2005/6.

Fleet

Euro Cargo Rail has four Vossloh G1206, two Vossloh G2000's, three Class 185.5 and fifteen Class 66 freight locomotives. These locomotives are driven by drivers from EWS International. A further two G2000 locomotives for international freight trains to Belgium and Germany are expected by the end of 2007.
