Go Faster Stripe is an independent film company working out of Chapter Arts Centre in Cardiff. They specialise in recording and releasing DVDs by stand-up comedians who while in the public eye would not normally be able to achieve a DVD release without compromise. While DVD's are the main staple of the distributor, a recording of Stewart Lee's Pea Green Boat has been issued on CD, and on a limited edition 10" vinyl pressing.

Go Faster Stripe DVD releases are known for being very cheap (usually about GBP 10 as of December 2008.) DVDs are delivered in card-based slip cases to keep prices down.

So far, the company has attracted acts such as Richard Herring, Lucy Porter, Robin Ince and Stewart Lee.[1][2]

History

Comedy fan Chris Evans wanted to purchase a DVD of Steward Lee's latest show. However, he found out there was not one as the comic's previous release had sold insufficient copies. The comedy website Chortle claim that the show's controversial content dissuaded major distribution companies because of fear of retribution from the fundamentalist Christian Right.[3] However, Evans felt that the critically acclaimed show (Time Out enthused 'should win the Booker prize') should be recorded for posterity.[3]
