Overview
Bangladesh M.H.M.High School and College, One of the old and schools of Qatar, is considered to be the best Bangladeshi school in Qatar. Established in the 1979s, the school has an excellent record of discipline, academic and co curricular achievements.
History
Bangladesh & The State of Qatar got their independence nearly at the same time i.e. in the year of 1971. After the independence, both the countries required infrastructural developments as well as other social changes to lead a happy and prosperous life. These requirements paved the way to establish a bilateral relationship between these tow brotherly countries.
H.E M.H. Haque, being the first ambassador Of Bangladesh to Qatar had a great responsibility on him because he was the pioneer in representing & Highlighting Bangladesh & establishing a deep and long lasting relationship with the State of Qatar. Beside his diplomatic career, he devoted himself to social works and worked for the development of Bangladeshi community. In the early 1970, the people of different countries including Bangladeshis started settling down in Qatar to try their luck. The huge influx of the people from different countries to Qatar pushed them forward to establish different community schools. Till 1978 there was no Bangladeshi school though there were a significant number of Bangladeshi families living in Qatar. Maybe late Ambassador Brigadier Mohammed Mashoor-ul Haque thought that there were Indian schools, Pakistani school, Lebanon schools, Qatar International School , why not Bangladeshi school ? This kind of noble thought always pricked his conscience & on the spur of the moment he decided that he would establish a Bangladesh School where children of Expatriate Bangladeshi would study in a congenial atmosphere and it would be a symbol of friendship between two countries.
Being a man of iron will, he did not retreat from his decision and called a meeting with some of his fellow countrymen and in that meeting Bangladesh Education Society (B.E.S) was formed. This society was entrusted with the responsibility to convey the message of the Ambassador to all Bangladeshi. Perhaps, at that time all Bangladeshis felt the necessity of establishing a school and brought them under an umbrella. Well there is no ideological difference among the Expatriate Bangladeshis at that time. The B.E.S had been working with sincerity and great enthusiasm under the gaudience of the Ambassador. Perhaps , the members of the B.E.S could read the mind and the heart of the Ambassador that he wanted. After a series of meeting, conference and discussion, on as auspicious day ( 22 June 1979) the flag of Bangladesh was hoisted in the school premises in a hired building which ushered new hopes among Bangladeshi community.
