Shahrokh Moshkin Ghalam (April 21, 1967) is an Iranian French choregrapher and Actor The grand son of the famous Iranian calligrapher ? Moshkin Ghalam. shahrokh was born in Iran and raised and based in Paris France. He is an official member of la Comedie Francaise)[1] and the founder of Nakissa Art company. Nakissa Art Company was founded by Shahrokh Moshkin Ghalam in 1997 to promote Iranian Art all over the world,this company is now one of the most famous and successful Iranian Dance and theatre companies in the world.It includes dancers and actors from all over the world who are trained by Shahrokh Moshkin Ghalam. Nakissa has had performaces in Europe, USA, Canada, and Asia. Nakissa Art company has attended international Festivals or events, such as the Internaitonal Dance Festival in Boulder Colorado, Festival Meridas, Festival d'Asturias Festival de Chartres, Rotterdam, Rome, La haye, the Tirgan festival in Toronto etc.

Shahrokh has now become one of the most successful and well-known international artists, with his wide talents in acting and dancing, And the inventor of dance with Persian poetry alone and no music. His mixed background, meaning born and partly raised in Iran, spending his youth in Paris and being trained in various styles of dances, has earned him a unique type of dance by creating a fusion of different kinds of dances. His choreographies, usually based on Persian poetry and classical music bring Persian myths, poetry, and dance together to create an atmosphere of magical quality.

In 2002 the Royal Opera House of Covent Garden invited him for his “Seven pavillion Ballet” based on the works of Great Persian Poet Nezami.

"Dance Varations on Persian themes"created in 2007 is his last work which is a collection of his best choreographies performed with Karine Gonzales the major dancer of his company. Shahrokh has a unique style, a poetic way of expressing himself and his grace is as such that he can dance without music, nor any stage decoration, and still be stunning.

Shahrokh uses Persian poetry as his music, his movements are remarkable and technically powerful He is simply inspirational and absolutely stunning.


His “Omar Khayyam” Ballet inspired by the Quatrains of 12 century Persian poet Omar Khayam has been preformed in Paris, London, Stockholm, New York and Los Angeles, The “Mythological Danses” inspired by the three love stories (Khosrow and Shirin , Bahram and Dorsatti , Sohrab and Gordafarid)is also a very successful series of Persian dances which has been preformed in Europe and North America several times.

As an actor, he appeared on stage for six years with the THEATRE DU SOLEIL, under the direction of Ariane Mnouchkine,and had major parts in plays such as “Tartuffe”, “la Ville Parjure” and “Les Atrides «  His theatre performances such as “Twelfth Night” of Sheakspear with the Terrain Vague Company , “Romeo and Juliette” directed by Lionnel Briands. “Dionysos, the Baccantes”of Euripide directed by Usevio Lazaro, “Soldier Tale” of Strawinsky in theatre Athenée directed by Antoine Campo. “Tramway named Desire” of Tenesee William directed by Phillip Adrian. “abduction in the Serai” of Mozart directed by Jérome Deschamps.

He has played and directed plays in Persian such as:

  • Mardha va cheez from Makki

“Kafane Siah” a play inspired by MirzadeEshghi the early 20th century Iranian poet Has been presented in the USA, Canada, and different European countries.

Since 2004 he has been an official member of

Shahrokh has even been selected for the role of Pacha in the opera "abduction of the serail" of Mozart in the ex en province Festival in France.

He has also inherited a talent in Persian Calligraphy from his great grandfather and last but not least Shahrokh is a very good photographer.
