*Pioneer Building is a historic building in the City of New Rochelle in Westchester, New York. It was built in 1892 by Henry Sweet, the editor and publisher of The New Rochelle Pioneer newspaper. The building is constructed in the Italianate style with its name in bold relief on the metal cornice. It was never intended to stand alone, but rather, to be part of a streetscape of similar structures. Consequently its side walls are plain, and only the front facade has any true detail or ornament. <br />The Pioneer was published in the building until 1920 when it was forced to close due to increasing competition. From that point onward, the building held a variety of tenants but generally declined. In the 1970's, much of the block was leveled to make way for the New Rochelle Public Library. The Pioneer building was spared, and then was purchased and extensively restored by a local resident as the headquarters of her food-service business. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on December, 29, 1983.REF:, National Register of Historic Places |

* Wildcliff, also referred to as the Lawton, Cyrus, House, is a historic gothic revival residence in the City of New Rochelle in Westchester, New York. The impressive stone cottage-villa was designed by the renowned architect Alexander Jackson Davis, and completed in 1855 for the Davenport family. It was enlarged in 1865 and again in 1919. Owner Clara Prince donated the home and its one and a half acres of land to the City of New Rochelle in 1940. Since then Wildcliff has housed a number of not-for-profit groups and functions, including Wildcliff Natural Science Center and East Coast Performing Arts. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on December, 31, 2002.
