Drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 2nd round of the 1995 MLB amateur draft, Simmons would make his Major League Baseball debut with the Chicago White Sox on September 21, 1998, and appeared in his final game on October 7, 2001. On September 26 , 1998 , Brian Simmons made history by hitting homeruns from both sides of the plate against the Kansas City Royals after having only 19 major league at-bats . He accomplished this feat with the least number of at-bats for any rookie .
