Generation NEX (a pun on Generation X and NES) is a recent clone of the original NES console. This product is developed by Messiah. It is ultra slim, light weight and can play a limited number of NES games, hence the name pun. However, the NEX has questionable compatibility with NES games -- the colors are sometimes off, and the game sounds are often inaccurate and unfaithful to games played on the original NES. In addition, many popular NES games such as Castlevania III either don't work at all, or are plagued with glitches when played on the system. This behavior has led some video game insiders to believe that the NEX's hardware is based on off-the-shelf cheap Chinese famicom clone hardware available for over 10 years.
This product has pseudo-stereo sound capability which must be programmed into future games to be utilized; currently available games will still only play in mono. Notably, the Generation NEX also has support for Messiah brand wireless controllers.
