Kathryn will be travelling to the United States and Canada in order to study Alternative Discovery Layers and Open Source Library Management Systems. She will investigate what they do technically and whether organisations that implement them have common factors that make them early adopters of technology. Kathryn will present her research at the VALA2010 conference. |

VALA - Libraries, Technology and the Future Inc (VALA). is an Australian not-for-profit professional organisation that promotes the use and understanding of information and communication technologies across the Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museum sectors.
Membership is open to anyone working in the information industry.
Meetings
VALA holds regular meetings promote the exchange of information about the planning, analysis, implementation, operation and maintenance of telecommunications in library services and information management.
Conference
The VALA Conference is held every two years. VALA2010, to be held 9 - 11 February 2010 at the Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre. The theme for VALA2010 focuses on the emerging processes, applications and technologies being used to connect content with your communities (professional or client-based).
