Mine That Bird is an American racehorse and winner of the 2009 Kentucky Derby. A gelding, his sire was Birdstone and his mother was Mining My Own.[1] Birdstone is noted as the stallion who denied Smarty Jones his chance at the [[]]Visa Triple Crown, by defeating him in the 2004 Belmont Stakes.

At 50-1 odds, Mine That Bird tied for the second biggest upset in Kentucky Derby history (behind 91-1 longshot Donerail in 1913 and tied with 50-1 Giacomo in 2005). His jockey for the race was Calvin Borel.

The horse traveled 1700 miles over 21 hours with his owner to get to the race. He arrived at Churchill Downs on a trailer pulled by a pickup truck.
