Hamza Dirani

Born in Amman, Aug 16 - 1982'

Hamza Dirani is Jordanian race driver who is well known in Karting in his country and the region. He has achieved many wins in karting in Jordan, Lebanon, Dubai and Egypt. In 2005, he joined Meritus Racing to race in the Formula BMW Asia racing series and be the first Jordanian to participate in Formula Racing and finished all his races in top ten.

Beside his racing career, he started a karting business in 2006. His work includes importing kart, spare parts, racing accessories as well as a service center and training school.

Racing Career:

Dirani's first official race was in 1997 when he participated in the Polaris ATVs (All-terrain vehicle) race and won the 1st place. In 1999, he started to participate in the Jordan Karting Championship. One year later he got his first podium when he finished in 2nd place in the Lucky Strike Karting Race.

In 2001, Dirani started to get attack and won both the 1st and 2nd rounds of the championship as well the Abdoun Karting Race. After his success in Karting, Dirani moved into the rallying world and participated in the Jordan Rally and the Syrian International Rally on a Volvo 244, Group A. in that year, Hamza won the “Achievement Award for Best Novice Rally Driver”.

The year after, Dirani attented a rally course at the Bill Gwynne Rally School in England to build up his skills and learn professional techniques. When he was back in Jordan, he won the second place in the first round of the local rally championship. Dirani's name started to star in the world of rallying after acheiving competiteve times in the stages of the Jordan Rally and Rally of Lebanon. He received an invitation from teh Saudi Champion, Abdullah Bakhashab, to participate in the prestigious “Race of Champions” in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

by the end of 2002, Dirani was crowned Jordan's champion (two wheel drive category) for the Jordan Rally Championship 2002, and 4th overall in the same championship.

In 2003, Hamza decided to race in Karting again, but in a very professional level. He achieved a break-through record of winning seven out of seven races in the Jordan Karting Championship making him the youngest driver to win the championship.

Again in 2004, Hamza was crowned the Jordan Kart Champion, achieving fastest lap in all races of 2003 and 2004.
