Madison Central High School is a public high school (grades 10-12) located on Highland Colony Parkway in Madison, Mississippi. Madison Central is part of the Madison County School District. Madison Central has a student body of more than 1500, and the current principal is Edith Mitchell. The school colors are orange and blue and the school mascot is the jaguar. Madison Central is classified as a 5A Mississippi school and is a member of the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA).

History

Before Madison Central was opened in 1989, Madison Ridgeland High School served as the public high school for Madison County.

Athletics

Over that timespan, Madison Central boasts 5A state titles in football, basketball, baseball, golf, powerlifting, and soccer among many other sports.

Academics

Madison Central High School has a well established tradition as one of the state's best high schools academically. Recently, Madison Central has dominated the state's Academic Decathlon competitions, winning several championships and earning the right to represent Mississippi at several national competitions. At the most recent national competition, Madison Central finished 10th in America and 2nd in their division. At the 2007 national finals, Madison Central was the 7th best school overall and won the national championship for their division.[1][2][3]
