Erin Silver is a fictional character featured in the Beverly Hills, 90210 franchise. Originally introduced in Beverly Hills, 90210, she returned in the spin-off 90210. On the original series, she was portrayed by April & Ariel Peterson, Paige & Ryanne Kettner, Megan Lee Bradley, and Mercedes Kastner during her various stages of childhood. She is played by Jessica Stroup in 90210, which takes place during the character's teenage years.

Beverly Hills, 90210

Erin was born on July 15th, 1992. She is the daughter of Jackie Taylor and Mel Silver, and the half-sibling of Kelly Taylor and David Silver. Although Erin was a minor character, she is featured heavily into major character storylines. She was the cause of Kelly deciding to not go on the school trip to Paris with Donna in season 3 (as Kelly wanted to help Jackie take care of the recently born Erin), thus enabling Brenda to go. This decision starts the Kelly-Dylan-Brenda love triangle, as Kelly was able to spend more time with Dylan while taking care of Erin.

90210

Season 1

Now going by her surname Silver, she is a well-known student of West Beverly Hills High School, She maintains an online video series (called The Vicious Circle) concerning teenage life. As Kelly works at the school, she keeps in contact with her. It seems she has very limited contact with David.

She mentions that while in middle school, she was best friends with Naomi Clark, and even got matching tattoos. However, their friendship deteriorated when she told Naomi that she found out Jackie was cheating on Mel and begged her not to tell anyone, which Naomi did. This caused Mel and Jackie to separate and bring Jackie back to drinking. Since the separation, she lives with Jackie. However, as her mother began to heavily drink, Silver began to sleep in battered women shelters until Dixon found out. After he told Harry, Harry told Kelly, Kelly confronted Jackie, and eventually Silver moved in with Kelly.

Very cynical and witty, Silver is not afraid to speak her mind. In the first episode, she begins to make friends with Annie Wilson, but blasts her on her blog when she feels Annie has sold out to become friends with Naomi. After apologizing to Annie and helping her get a role in the school musical, she and Annie become very good friends. She also begins liking Annie's adopted brother Dixon, eventually dating him. Naomi eventually apologizes to Silver for spreading Silver's secret while in middle school and begs her to not tell the world about Naomi's parent's divorce due to her father's cheating. After Silver decides to not post it, Naomi and Silver slowly begin to patch up their friendship.

While Brenda Walsh is in town and running the school musical, Silver is the stage manager for the play. It seems that Brenda has kept in contact with Silver over the years since her departure to London in 1994.

After rumors of her English teacher Ryan Matthews having sexual relations with a student, Kimberly McIntyre (who was in fact an undercover cop), Silver made a video on her blog about it (which she titled Teacher Takes a Dip in the Kiddie Pool). This causes her to get kicked out of his class, which she states is unfair. After writing what she called "A Mind Blowing Essay", Ryan eventually accepts her back into his class.

She is a little wary of Ryan dating Kelly, and gives Kelly relationship advice on both Dylan and Ryan. When Ryan and Kelly break up, Silver is relieved.

While dating Dixon, she is at first apathetic about him telling her that he loved her, stating that although she cared for him, she really didn't believe in love, however she eventually tells Dixon she loves him. On Valentine's day she loses her virginity to him. Soon after this, she begins to exhibit behavior that is very out of character for her. She gets a tattoo of Dixon's name on her side while also wanting to have sex almost everywhere. She also keeps telling him, almost obsessively, that she loves him and how much he matters to her. He breaks up with her once he sees that she secretly recorded them having sex and made that into a video for her English project (which she showed at a theatre).

She attempts to apologize and promises to burn the tape to prove her love. She burns the tape in front of Dixon's house after he rebuffs her apologies. She then breaks into Ryan Matthew's house and threatens him, as she blames him for her breakup with Dixon. She calls Dixon, telling him that he is the only thing that matters to her in this world. Dixon hangs up and Silver decides to head to Kansas in order to learn more about Dixon's early life, as she feels she doesn't know him at all and that by knowing more it would solve their problems. Another train passenger steals Silver's phone from her while she is sleeping and calls Harry Wilson.

Harry, Debbie, and Dixon (who, along with others, have been looking for her since her disappearance) arrive in time to see her run straight toward a train. Silver is unharmed and Dixon apologizes, finally realizing that Silver has Bipolar disorder, like his birth mother. She apologizes to Kelly and asks if she's going to make her live with Jackie again, to which Kelly replies that she will still live with with Kelly. Silver then goes on medication for her disorder.

Silver and Kelly get an unexpected visit from Donna Martin, Silver's sister-in-law and Kelly's best friend. Donna was very supportive of Silver and what she was dealing with. When Donna comes to visit, Kelly, doesn't let Silver do anything too exciting, as she was just released from the hospital. Unfortunately often Silver feels angry because of this. Donna asked Silver to be her assistant for Diablo Cody's premiere, but Kelly says that it would be too much for Silver. Silver later acknowledges this but tells Kelly that she needs to learn to let her have a little less strictness in her life. As a treat for Silver, Donna brings home Diablo Cody, who takes a picture with Silver. It is revealed that the whole school has seen her video, which leaked on youtube. She can't stand her classmates talking about her behind her back, so she decides to dis-enroll from West Beverly and go to St. Claire's, an all girl Catholic School.

Silver, now using her first name Erin, is nervous about starting her first day at her new school, and Dixon is hesitant to support her due to their going to different schools. When she gets introduced to her new homeroom, she is nervous because of her small knowledge of Catholicism. She starts to get tutored in the religious material by one of her very overzealous new classmates, Angela. She rebuffs Dixon when he tries to kiss her after picking her up, stating that she wants keep a low profile and thus wants to keep her school and private life separate. The next day, Angela comes to her and tells her that she recognizes from the tape she made and tells her that she needs to come clean about her "checkered past" in order to get closer to God. When Erin tries to say that she doesn't want to, Angela tells her that she will fast and pray until Silver tells the school about who she is. Erin then storms in Dixon's house, blaming him for Angela figuring out why she transferred schools. Dixon gets mad and says that he is dealing with people whispering and talking behind his back just like she was at West Bev, because he was in the video too. She refuses to listen and leaves. After having a dream where Angela dies due to starvation, Erin comes cleans to her classmates by sending a mass email to the students. When she goes to school the next day, she surrounded by people whispering behind her back. When Angela happily meets her and asks her how she feels, Erin angrily states that she is felling humiliated, ashamed, and embarrassed. She then tells Angela that due to her extortion, she feels like she is in hell.

After Dixon pleads with her to go to West Beverly's sophomore prom, she relents. She tries to be excited for Dixon, but is afraid to go back to West Bev. At the prom, Dixon had everyone write in Silver as a nominee for prom queen, which she eventually wins. Once she gets up to the podium, she decides that she is no longer afraid of what people think about her and of being liked. She explained herself about her past actions and concluded her speech by stating that she hated prom, and that people who did were lame. She then refuses her win, to which Naomi takes the crown. Dixon who won prom king, is visibly upset and leaves after Silver tells him that she decided to come back to West Bev. She is confused by Dixon's behavior, but looks thoughtful when Ethan comes up to her and tells her that her speech inspired him.

She goes to Naomi's after party and talks to Ethan and finds out that he has a crush on her due to Dixon forcing him to tell her. When she confronts him, he kisses her and he tells her that he doesn't want to be her friends but more. When she doesn't answer, he asks her to examine why she followed him instead of talking to Dixon.
