According to Thurston Gavara Naidus (Kavarais) are Balija Naidus.In Tamil Nadu there is no difference between Gavara Balija Naidus and Gajula Balija Naidus as both are branches of Balija caste and matrimonial relations are very common between the two branches . Both of these branches worship Gowri .May be there is a missing link between Gavaras of A.P and Gavara(Kavarai) Balija Naidus of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. The Gavaras of Vijaya nagaram and Visakhapatnam might have been the stranded or settled people of Gavara Balija Naidu caste following Krishna Devaraya's expedition to Orissa. It is a well known fact that Balija Naidus belong to Warrior/Trading caste and many Nayaks(Chieftains) had emerged from this caste. As per Thurston Vijaya nagar,Madurai and Thanjavur kings were Balija Naidus.Madurai kings of Balija Naidu caste established kingdoms in Srilanka (Kandy dynasty) and so many Balija caste people migrated to Srilanka during the period of Kandy dynasty from Tamil Nadu.Some of these Balija Naidus had relocated in other countries once the Kandy dynasty rule ended .It is interesting to know that Gavaras of Northern circars might have been the people migrated from Srilanka as per the new school of thought.
