The road leading to the school is untarmacked and goes through a local swamp. This leads to a frequently problematic and dangerous drive during rainy season. Template:Whereisit Rainbow International School is a international school for infant, junior and secondary education in the Kampala district of Uganda.

The Rainbow International School was established in September 1991 as a Primary School with 29 children. In September 1995, the school moved to its present 9-acre site with newly constructed purpose built classrooms and administration block and extensive playing fields. The school is located in Kampala district of Uganda. The school is owned by the Midland Group of companies.[1]

Rainbow International School is a relatively low cost international school catering for children from all parts of the world from the age of 3 up to 21 (Kindergarten to ‘A’ level) with full time boarding facilities for students aged 7 and above. It is a non-selective school offering education for all abilities, cultures and religions. the school follows the guidelines of the British National Curriculum and employs teaching methods required to succeed in such a system.[2] Rainbow has qualified staff to teach both special needs and ESL (English as a Second Language).[3]

The school maintains small class sizes to allows the children to gain a more personal relationship with their teachers at the same time as enabling the teacher to know their children well.

Staff

The head of primary section is Ms Audrey Dralega. The head of secondary section is Mr Clifford Green [4]

School Motto

The school motto is Nil Satis Nisi Optimum[5]. Nil Satis Nisi Optimum is a Latin phrase that means "nothing but the best is good enough". It shares this motto with the English football club Everton FC [6]. The motto was chosen by the Everton supporting principle Mr Clifford Green.

Boarding

Full time boarding facilities for students aged 7 and above are available. School transport takes the boarders to and from the boarding houses each day.A staff member, along with their family, is resident at the boarding house overseeing all its day-to-day activities.

Career Guidance

Trained and qualified Careers Advisers are available to the students and parents for careers interviews on subject options, possible careers and guidance and counseling on all issues concerning the student's future. Students receive guidance in their decisions about choosing a university, choosing a course to study at university and filling in university applications. The careers department has a dedicated room with an interview section, ten internet connected computers and a library full of up todate university prospectuses and financial aid and scholarship information.

Facilities

A newly upgraded kindergarten unit with many 'hands on' toys and resources as well as a fully equipped modern playground and sand pit. There is also a small kindergarten swimming pool near the main swimming pool.

Health Package A comprehensive health package for all students who join the school. A nurse from International Hospital is based at the school to offer first aid and basic treatment in case of accident or illness.

Lunch Service A hot lunch service is available at extra cost. Children may bring a packed lunch if they prefer. There is a tuck shop on the school site selling snacks during morning break times.

Bus Service A bus service runs to and from most areas of Kampala arriving at school. There is also a bus service provided by a group of parents bringing children in from Entebbe.
