History

Block (1988-2009)

Before Nick Jr. launched in 1988 as a block, classic preschool shows aired on Nickelodeon. When Nick Jr. launched, its first program was Belle and Sebastian. In 1994, Nick Jr. re-launched and had its first mascot named "Face". In 2004, Face was replaced by Piper O'Possum in early 2004. In 2004, Nick Jr. had a new mascot named Piper and premiered new shows such as LazyTown, Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!, Wonder Pets, Go, Diego, Go!. Piper was last seen on September 7, 2007. In September 10, 2007, Nick Jr. relaunched again and included introduced new graphics, and music. The first program ever aired was Dora the Explorer.[citation needed] As of February 2, 2009, Nick Jr. ended with the last program, Ni Hao, Kai-lan and drop down to the Nickelodeon logo instead. In February 24, 2009, it was announced that Noggin will be replace by Nick Jr. and Nick Jr. would turn to a 24/7 television channel.[1]

TV channel (2009-present)

After it was announced, Nickelodeon is planned to remake Noggin into Nick Jr. as of mid-2009. It will feature Current/Former Nick Jr. programs and Current Noggin programs. Nick Jr. will sometime relaunch in September 2009. It will also feature the solgan, "Play With Us"/"Preschool on TV". This relaunch will be very similar to how Nick Jr. launched its own channels in the UK in September 1999 and Australia in March 2004. It is unknown if Moose A. Moose and Zee, Noggin's current mascots, or the block's mascots, Face (1994-2004) and Piper O'Possum (2004-2007) will continue to appear after the relaunch. It was annouced in a recent press release a new original show is being made for channel called "Dino Dan" about a boy who can see dinosuars. It is unknown how or if Nick Jr. will get a new logo or how it looks.
