De Bakke is an area in the town of Mossel Bay famed for its beautiful views, excellent camping and safe swimming.

The name appears to have Dutch/Afrikaans origins meaning "pots" and may refer to the long history of this area being enjoyed as a holiday and picnic destination as far back as the 19th century.

Mosselbay is the base chosen by the Paraguayan national football contingent for their 2010 FIFA World Cup campaign. This is the first time in its history that Soccer World Cup is being held in Africa. South Africa was awarded the rights to host the tournament after defeating Morocco and Egypt in the all-African bidding process.[1]
