Russell L. Blaylock, MD is a former neurosurgeon, health practitioner, author, lecturer, newsletter editor and radio show guest.

Education and career

According to Blaylock's page on the Belhaven College website, Blaylock completed his general surgical internship and neurosurgical residency at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC.[1] He retired as a clinical assistant professor of neurosurgery from the University of Mississippi Medical Center and serves as a visiting professor in the biology department at Belhaven College.[1]

Blaylock has been quoted several times in media outlets regarding his position that MSG is toxic to the brain.[2][3][4][5][6][7] He also believes that the widely-used artificial sweetener aspartame is toxic.[8][9] Blaylock has been a guest on over fifty syndicated radio programs.[1]

Blaylock is the author or co-author of several case reports and reviews in the scientific literature[10][11] and has also written for the journal of the right-wing Association of American Physicians and Surgeons.[12] He writes The Blaylock Wellness Report for the conservative website NewsMax.[13]
