Talentspotter
What does the Talentspotter link add to the article that the other links on the page do not? Apart from a very basic array of biographical information on the page, the only content there is entirely subjective and not really an appropriate link for an encyclopaedic article. – PeeJay 13:20, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
:The information on that page that you seem to find interesting is really just trivial, and I see no need to add the link back to the page. – PeeJay 11:42, 1 December 2008 (UTC)
::The IMDb link actually provides information relating to Ronaldo's life and career outside of football. The Football Talent Spotter link merely gives a few football stats and a piss-poor biography that can be found pretty much anywhere. Anyway, since it seems that neither of us is going to change their mind, I suggest you take this up at Talk:Cristiano Ronaldo or Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football. – PeeJay 12:25, 1 December 2008 (UTC)
:::Hi there football nut. I've read what you and PeeJay are saying and I have to say I agree with PeeJay. While the link maybe be interesting to you or various football fans, it is not encyclopaedic. Wikipedia is about scholarship. The IMDB link can tell you further information about various media/advertising appearances etc. The Talentspotter link merely mirrors Opta statistics and shows fans opinions on footballers. This is not keeping with the tone of Wikipedia: a source of verified, reliably published information.
:::An example of a similar link would be BBC's 606. While plenty of interesting discussion happens there, the information is largely speculative, opinionated and unreliable. This is fine for a football message board. However, information of this kind is not permitted on Wikipedia and neither should we link to it in the external links. I hope you can understand and agree with me. Take care. Sillyfolkboy (talk) 19:20, 1 December 2008 (UTC)
