I'm a [[University of Canberra|uni]] student in [[Canberra]], [[Australia]]; the greatest city of the greatest country of the greatest world in the greatest solar system ... or something like that, anyway. I'm [[Catholic]], but don't let that bother you.

My interests include [[softball]], [[football (soccer)|soccer]] (nominally a [[Liverpool]] fan, but more importantly a '''football''' fan), [[rugby league]], [[cricket]], [[Australia|Australian]] culture & history, and politics. And some other stuff, but that's already a long list.

I am a dickhead who needs shot.
I sign my messages and appear on [[IRC]] as "fuddlemark", Because I Can. I hope to build the largest collection of near-identical "welcome" messages known to WikiPedians (so far I'm up to 5). Apparently I'm an [[Wikipedia:Administrators|administrator]], which I guess means I can't pretend to be a newbie anymore. If you need anything, just drop us a line on [[User talk:MarkGallagher|my talk page]].

==To-do==

{{todo}}

==Images==
Images I have uploaded, and intend to use, but haven't got 'round to it yet:
*[[:Image:Floorball rink.svg]]
*[[:Image:Softball-layout.svg]] (first ever SVG, needs cleanup before I can use it)

==Brag list==
[[Image:Exceptional newcomer.jpg|frame|right|MarkGallagher is hereby awarded the
Exceptional Newcomer Award for your boldness in improving the [[Manchester United]] page, among others. [[User:Cantthinkofagoodname|CTOAGN]] 11:49, 11 August 2005 (UTC)]]
{{Award|image=Barnstar.png|text=I award this [[Wikipedia:Barnstars on Wikipedia|Barnstar]] to '''MarkGallagher''' for recognition in the field of '''Harmonious Community Care'''.[[User_talk:Skull 'n' Femurs|Talk]] [[Image: Masonic_Skull_n_Femurs_little.PNG]] [[User:Skull 'n' Femurs|Skull 'n' Femurs]] 01:07, 9 December 2005 (UTC) }}
[[Image:Barnstar.png|frame|left|For your efforts in cleaning up and verifying articles that end up being the source of complaint, even when it is a pain in the ass. [[User:Mindspillage|Mindspillage]] [[User talk:Mindspillage|(spill yours?)]] 16:58, 5 October 2005 (UTC)]]
[[Image:Barnstar3.png|frame|left|For continuing to keep tabs on non-free content and images, and for writing clean content to replace it wherever possible, I award you this barnstar. [[User:Robchurch|Rob Church]] ''[[User_talk:Robchurch|Talk]]'' <nowiki>|</nowiki> ''[[Wikipedia:Featured Article Help Desk|FAHD]]'' 16:14, 28 October 2005 (UTC)]]
Articles I like to think I have a right to be proud of, for whatever reason:
* [[Lang Hancock]] was on cleanup for a hell of a long time, and is now nearly (in my ignorant newbie opinion) ready for [[WP:FAC]]
* [[Abdul Muis]] may not look like much, but I '''did''' write it from scratch, and my only significant source was in [[Bahasa Indonesia]]
* [[Plan 9 from Outer Space]] involved taking a good, long article and (hopefully) rewriting it into a good, long, encyclopaedic article
* [[Nigel Martyn]] was a complete rewrite of a copyvio
* [[Manchester United F.C.]] was a good article to begin with, but I like to think my copyedit significantly improved it
* [[John Antill]]. Okay, it's nothing special really, but it was the first article I wrote from scratch. I note that, terrifyingly enough, it still boasts only one editor ... perhaps Australian composers aren't interesting enough for the majority of Wikipedians
* [[Dorothea Mackellar]] is, again, nothing special to an experienced Wikipedian, but you should see what it was like at the time ...

==Subpages==
*[[User:MarkGallagher/nonsense]] – what nonsense really looks like!
*[[User:MarkGallagher/everyking]] – short-lived deal with everyking

==The Flag==
I'm an Australian republican of sorts, but not particularly rabid about it. I '''do''' think something like this would make a pretty awesome flag:
[[Image:Republican-AusFedFlag.png|frame|centre|[[Federation Flag]] with [[Union Jack]] removed.]]
It's as simple and beautiful as the [[Eureka Flag]], without all the baggage (is it a Communist symbol of revolution, or a Neo-Nazi symbol of racism?). We have the Southern Cross, and the colours of the old flag, without the imperial nonsense of being a defaced British ensign. There's nothing there to represent the Aborigines, true, but when was the last time an actual Aboriginal person insisted on representation on the national flag? The only thing I've heard on the subject is the creator of the [[Aboriginal flag]] asking that it not be used in a national context.
