|} Hotel de l'Europe is a five star hotel located on the Amstel in the centre of Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The 19the century hotel became an official monument ("rijksmonument") in 2001. Hotel de l'Europe is situate opposite and overlooking the Munt, where the river Amstel flows into the Rokin canal.

Freddy's Bar, the bar of the hotel is named after Freddy Heineken.

History

A tower on the present day location of Hotel de l'Europe was demolished in 1633 and five year later the Inn, later hotel, Het Rondeel was buid.

This building was replaced from 1895 till 1896, when a 50 room Hotel de l'Europe was opened after a desing by architect Willem Hamer jr.

Alfred Hitchcock used the hotel just before the second world war as location for Foreign Correspondent (1940). During the second world war was the builging in use by german officials.
