History
The T-135 is an electro-mechanical Civil Defense Siren. It is considered to be the second loudest siren in the world with a sound output of 135db @ 100ft away, which can cover up to 10 square miles. It was first produced in the 1980s as the ACA P-50, but has also been known as the RM-135, through the early 1990's, and the T-135 from 1998 onwards. The siren ended production around 2005, and was replaced by the T-135 AC/DC, which has a battery back-up feature, and produces 132-135 dB at 100 feet.
P-50 Siren Today
American Signal no longer manufactures replacement parts for the P-50 / T-135AC siren. ASC may still have spare parts, but are expensive to purchase. Most P-50s that were installed still stand today, and are active.
